Your energy supplier
The company that sends your bills. They're responsible for your meter – including smart meters – and your account. Call them about billing, meter readings, faulty or old meters and prepayment issues.
Your network operator
The distribution network operator (DNO) owns the cables, substations and the supply into your home, up to and including the cut-out and main fuse next to your meter. Call them – via 105 in England, Scotland and Wales – about power cuts, damaged supply cables, the main fuse, new connections and supply upgrades.
Electricians also notify them about EV chargers and some other new loads.

Your electrician
Everything after the meter – the consumer unit, wiring, sockets, switches, lights and fixed equipment – is yours, and that's where an electrician comes in. Faults, rewires, new circuits, testing and EV charger installation are all electrician jobs.
